layout-grid Attribute | layoutGrid Property

Sets or retrieves the composite document grid properties that specify the layout of text characters.

Syntax

HTML { layout-grid : sLayout }
Scriptingobject.style.layoutGrid [ = sLayout ]

Possible Values

sLayoutString that specifies or receives one or more of the following values:
modeAny of the range of mode values available to the layoutGridMode property.
typeAny of the range of type values available to the layoutGridType property.
lineAny of the range of line values available to the layoutGridLine property.
charAny of the range of character values available to the layoutGridChar property.

The property is read/write. The property has a default value of both loose none none. The Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) attribute is inherited.

Expressions can be used in place of the preceding value(s), as of Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5. .

Remarks

Web documents in Asian languages, such as Chinese or Japanese, usually create a page layout for characters using a one- or two-dimensional grid. You can use the layout-grid attribute to incorporate this layout into Web documents.

Example

This example uses the layout-grid attribute to specify character layout for a block of text.
